These are the terms for participating in Kelbie's private beta. They apply in addition to our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy while Kelbie remains in private beta. Where these terms and our standard Terms of Service conflict, these govern during the beta period.
It's written in the same plain language as the rest of our legal pages because we'd rather you actually read it. If something here isn't clear, email hello@kelbie.ai and we'll explain.
By requesting a beta invite, accepting an invite, or using Kelbie while it's in private beta, you're agreeing to these terms.
What "private beta" means
- We onboard people by invitation. Access during this period is at our discretion. We can extend, pause, or revoke beta access at any time.
- The product is incomplete. Some features work well. Some are partial. Some will be removed because they didn't work the way we hoped.
- Things will change. We ship updates often, sometimes without notice. UI, behavior, settings, and even data structures may shift between sessions. Occasionally something you relied on may go away.
- The service may be unavailable. We don't guarantee uptime. We take the service down for maintenance, debugging, and deployments — sometimes with notice, sometimes without. We'll give notice when we can.
If you need a stable, finished product, Kelbie isn't that yet. We'd rather you wait for general release than be frustrated now.
Your data during the beta
The commitments in our Privacy Policy apply in full during the beta: your logs and journal entries are not sold, not used to train AI models, and not shared with anyone outside the providers we use to run the service.
Two things are specific to the beta period:
- No data durability guarantee. We will do our best to preserve what you log. But during beta we may need to reset accounts, migrate databases, or discard data in ways we can't fully avoid. If something in Kelbie matters to you, export it periodically — email hello@kelbie.ai and we'll send you an export.
- Structural changes may reset specific data. If we restructure how a feature stores information (for example, how supplements or reminders are modeled), we may need to reset that feature's data. When we can give advance notice, we will.
Nothing in this section overrides the Privacy Policy. These are additional reservations on our side about what can happen to beta-era data — not expansions of how we use it.
AI and sub-processors
Kelbie's AI features are powered by the Anthropic API. When you use Kelbie's insights, Sunday Letter, or journal responses, a summary of relevant data and entries is sent to Anthropic for processing.
Under our agreement with Anthropic:
- Your data is used only to generate your response.
- Your data is not retained by Anthropic after processing.
- Your data is not used to train Anthropic's models.
- Your data is not shared with any other party.
Kelbie also relies on infrastructure providers — hosting, email delivery, analytics, error reporting — to run the service. These sub-processors are described in our Privacy Policy and we'll update that list as it changes.
Your feedback
We want your feedback. Bug reports, feature requests, impressions, confusion, delight — all of it. Feedback from beta users is the single biggest thing shaping what Kelbie becomes.
By giving us feedback during the beta, you agree that:
- We can use your feedback, ideas, and suggestions to improve Kelbie without owing you credit, compensation, or any further obligation.
- We won't quote you by name publicly unless you explicitly say we can.
- We own any changes we make to the product as a result of your feedback.
This license is deliberately broader than the one in our standard Terms. It exists because beta feedback is how we build, and we don't want to get stuck on attribution or ownership questions when someone sends us a thoughtful note about what's broken. It applies to feedback you give us during the beta.
Bug reports and security disclosures
Bugs: Email hello@kelbie.ai with what you saw and how to reproduce it. Screenshots help.
Security vulnerabilities: If you find something that could expose other users' data, compromise accounts, or damage the service, please email security@kelbie.ai rather than posting publicly. We'll acknowledge within 72 hours. Our Security page has more detail on what to expect.
Talking about Kelbie
You're free to talk about your experience with Kelbie — what you like, what you don't, what it's doing for you or isn't. We don't require a nondisclosure agreement.
Two small requests:
- Please don't share screenshots or recordings that expose unreleased features, admin interfaces, or internal tooling.
- If you plan to write publicly about Kelbie — a review, a blog post, a podcast — a heads up to hello@kelbie.ai is appreciated but not required. We may reach out to offer context or answer questions.
Pricing during the beta
Kelbie is free while it's in private beta.
When we introduce paid tiers, pricing and terms will be clearly shown before you're asked to pay. We will not silently convert you to a paid plan, and we will not charge you without explicit opt-in. Active beta participants will receive advance notice before any pricing changes apply to them.
Ending your participation
You can leave anytime. Delete your account from your settings or email hello@kelbie.ai. Your data will be handled according to our Privacy Policy.
We can end your beta access. We may revoke beta access for reasons including, but not limited to: violating our Terms of Service, abusing the service in ways that affect other users or our infrastructure, using Kelbie in a commercial or professional setting it isn't designed for, or needing to adjust the size or shape of the beta cohort.
Unless the reason for removal is serious misconduct, we'll give you a chance to export your data before your account is closed.
When the beta ends
When Kelbie moves to general availability:
- We'll notify active beta participants by email at least 30 days before the transition.
- These Beta Participation Terms will retire, and our standard Terms of Service will fully govern your use of Kelbie.
- Your account and data will carry over unless you choose to delete before the transition.
- The feedback license you granted us during the beta stays in effect for work we did during that period. Feedback you give after GA is governed by the Terms of Service.
We don't currently promise specific perks for beta participants post-GA, but we'd be surprised if we didn't offer something. We'll let you know when we know.
How these terms fit with the Terms of Service
These Beta Participation Terms are additional to — not a replacement for — our Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Where they directly conflict during the beta period, these govern. Everything in our main Terms that isn't addressed here — the disclaimers, limitations of liability, governing law, dispute resolution, indemnification, intellectual property, acceptable use, and eligibility rules — continues to apply in full.
Changes to these terms
We may update these Beta Participation Terms as the beta evolves. When we make material changes, we'll update the date above and email active beta participants. Continued use of Kelbie after changes take effect means you accept the updated terms. If you don't, you can delete your account.
